I’ve met a “Real Son” at a re-enactment, but the real Confederate veterans were probably all gone before I was born in 1953. Of the two shown above, those who have researched it believe that Salling’s claims were false, and that Boush (or Bush) are probably true. The last authenticated Confederate veteran died in 1951. The last “contested” veteran died in 1959. This is from a Wikipedia article.
