Dear Sirs,
Monetary and material gain, as well as fame, are fleetingly dissatisfying, even for the most selfish (though “success” as defined by the blind, superficial, debased and cowardly, tends to go to the most brutal and manipulative). Our striving to treat all, even our adversaries, with a genuine and humble sense of duty, respect and kindness, however, especially when it is very difficult or inexpedient, to do so, our conduct on our respective imperfect journeys, brings honour, which is eternal.
