SCV Video – Religious Differences

Has anything changed?

Is there truly any way that the differences can be reconciled? The more I see of current attitudes toward The South, the more I am convinced that there simply is no middle ground upon which the two sides can come together. I mean today – not 1861. When I see the mocking and venomous attacks by Northerners against Southern heritage and culture, I see no hope for true reconciliation. Today’s video and Friday’s video bring this into sharp focus.

This is like asking Islam and Christianity to coexist in the same country – it cannot be done beyond the shallowest politically-mandated coercion.

Immoral and perverse societies/countries never last very long. Evil and immorality eventually is self detructive. However I do believe our beloved Southland does have all the possibilities to survive and emerge. Remember, Satan and his minions want to try and put hopelessness and despair in our hearts and families. The biggest reason is we are a God loving and God fearing people. See polls and charts.

You can see some very significant trends. The most important thing for us and our families is to stay close to God. The Liberals and Atheist are doing all they can to destroy us, but the Gates of Hell will not prevail over the followers of Jesus. There may be some very rough times but reading the prayers of Pres. J. Davis and Gen. Lee they never lost Hope or Faith in Our Lord.

You are right. There is no middle ground….and there can be no middle ground with those who promote a version of history based on regional bias and race politics (i.e. race baiting).

    Dear Colonel,
A bit of research will reveal that almost all the leaders , both North and South , were Episopalians . The SCV videos, while professionally done and interesting, conveniently leave gaps in history and become mere propaganda. One would expect better from the SCV.

  4. One very important point that is conveniently missed is that these were paid for by the SCV. They were done for the sole purpose of presenting a side of history that has been systematically erased from the public memory. If these were presented as a full length documentary film that the History Channel purchased as broadcast content, then questions about balance would be legitimate. The SCV PAID for air time for these videos. Would anyone expect a business to present their competitor’s viewpoint during a paid 60 second advertisement? Of course not. The SCV exists, in large part, to make sure that there is still some mention of the Southern view of history. The members are not paying their dues to present any part of the Northern view. Does that make it partisan? Yes, that is what it is supposed to be. Does that make it “propaganda” (as you call it)? That’s a pretty loaded word, but as long as we consider ANY paid advertising or any attempt to present a specific view as “propaganda”, then yes, it would be propaganda.

I am amazed at the double standards I see here. Those supporting the Northern agenda dismiss the Southern view as “propaganda” and unworthy of inclusion as serious historical fact. When Southerners try to present the Southern view – and even have to pay to get the message out – there are complaints that it is not “balanced”. When school books and government and the media are all presenting the “Southerners are the bad guys” message and dismissing all other views as “propaganda”, the idea of balance is laughable.

    Dear Sir,
with all due respect , I am not painting the South as the “bad guys.” That being said , the higher ground is to present the truth. No Confederate fought harder and few were captured or wounded as much as John S, Mosby , but none were as honest as him. The SCV is Forrest not Lee.
The restraint, elegance and breeding of the Lees is lost on the SCV. I wish it were otherwise but it isn’t. Then again, the SCV is not based in Virginia , is it?

Mosby was appointed to several government posts after the war…by former enemies. I wonder if that had any effect on his “honesty.”
